How to Input Your Birth Details
- 1. Gregorian Date Use your standard calendar birth date (YYYY-MM-DD). Our system converts this to the lunar sexagenary cycle automatically.
- 2. Exact Birth Time The hour selects the Hour Pillar. A different two-hour window can change that pillar because of Jie Qi (solar term) boundaries.
- 3. Midnight Transitions If born between 11 p.m. and 1 a.m., the calculator applies its documented day-boundary rule for the Early Rat hour.
- 4. Birth Place (Optional) A birth city is optional context for the local time you enter. The free chart still runs if you leave it blank.
- 5. Unknown Birth Time If your exact time is unknown, use 12:00 (Noon). Note that while your Day Master will likely be correct, the Hour Pillar and some percentages will be estimates.

Why is my exact birth time so important?
Birth time selects the Hour Pillar in this traditional chart. If you do not know it, noon is a usable placeholder. Treat the Hour Pillar as less specific, and use the rest of the chart as a broad prompt for reflection.
What does my Day Master element mean for me?
The Day Master is the Heavenly Stem of the birth day, a traditional image for the center of the chart. Yang Wood is often described as direct and growth-oriented, and Yin Metal as precise and discerning. These are reflection prompts, not a fixed identity or a forecast.
How can I use this Five Elements information in my daily life?
