Five Elements at Work: Team Reflection Prompts

Five Elements imagery can give a team neutral language for discussing pace, communication and practical preferences. It does not identify professional strengths, determine a career, or predict business results.

Five ways to notice a working style

Wood can suggest beginning or experimenting. Fire can suggest speaking or sharing. Earth can suggest supporting and maintaining. Metal can suggest clarifying and editing. Water can suggest researching and pausing. These are prompts, not fixed personality labels.

Use the prompts in a meeting

Before a project begins, ask: What needs to be started? What needs to be communicated? What needs reliable support? What needs a clearer decision? What information is still missing? Let the team answer from its actual work, rather than assigning anyone a type.

Keep career decisions evidence-based
