Five Elements and Everyday Food Notes

Food carries memory, place, season and ritual. The Five Elements can be a poetic vocabulary for noticing those details, without turning a meal into a rulebook.

Five prompts for noticing

Wood: What feels fresh, growing, or seasonal? Fire: What brings colour, warmth, or conversation? Earth: What feels familiar or sustaining? Metal: What could be simplified? Water: Where could you slow down and listen?

Use preferences, not prescriptions

These prompts do not identify what anyone should eat, and they cannot diagnose a need or change a physical outcome. They are simply an invitation to notice the context around a meal and your own response to it.

One week of notes

For seven days, record one line after a meal: what you enjoyed, what you noticed, or what helped the moment feel calmer. At the end, look for a pattern you would like to keep. Your own circumstances and qualified professional advice should guide all food and health decisions.
